Leah's Volleyball Career

Leah's High School Volleyball team made it to the top 4 in the state of Texas this year (2007). Her team got to go to the state playoff tournament in San Marcos, competing in Class 5A, representing Region 3. We played the Amarillo Sandies who ended up the winners in the State Tournament (5A) this year.
Leah had a good run with volleyball, ever since 4th grade (Margie and Dave, thanks for a great beginning), but now she has hung up her knee pads. During this last year of her 'VB career' she was on Club and Varsity teams that came in 3rd at Junior Olympics (National division) and 3rd in the state of Texas. They were also ranked 9th nationally (the team that beat them was ranked 3rd in the nation).
Leah received great accolades this year... picking up many honors. One of them being Houston's area female athlete of the week (this in an area that has the 4th largest population in the US). She was also described by many Texas Volleyball sports writers/ commentators as one of the best defensive specialist / libero in the state of Texas.
She worked hard.... played hard and loved it. For now, she has had enough. She is going to miss it, but she'll do what her sister Kate did. Play sand volleyball and intramurals to satisfy the urge to play and compete.
Way to go Leah!!!
